	The VALA2004 12th Biennial Conference and Exhibition is over, but you can download the Conference papers from our Conference Programme and Links to Papers page. Copies of the Proceedings on CD-ROM may also be purchased - see Previous Conferences for details. The VALA Conference is the Australian forum where the use of technology in libraries is discussed. VALA2004 featured invited overseas and Australian keynote speakers, plenary and concurrent sessions and an exhibition highlighting the latest products from leading suppliers.
	ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
	VALA thanks all participants in VALA2004 for making the Conference so successful. We had our biggest trade exhibition yet, six plenary seesions and forty-two concurrent sessions. More than 720 people registered for the Conference and Exhibition, many came just to view the Exhibition, and the Melbourne Convention Centre was abuzz. Thankyou to all the Exhibitors, speakers, delegates, our Conference Organisers, and everyone who helped to make the Conference so good.
Keynote Speakers	The keynote speakers, drawn from the USA, France and China, were selected for their expertise and work with major projects of significant interest and their understanding of current key issues. Together with an impressive range of local and overseas speakers reporting on innovative projects and topics of current importance, they ensured that the Conference provided a wide vision of emerging developments in libraries on both the local and world stage.
Conference Programme	The conference theme of BREAKING BOUNDARIES: INTEGRATION & INTEROPERABILITY was chosen as it reflects both the enormous successes and the key challenges in the field of library and information technology. Social events after each day’s presentations enabled the sharing of reflections on the programme with old and new friends.
Conference Exhibitors	The Trade Exhibition has been growing steadily over recent years and proved to be the largest ever, giving delegates the opportunity to view the latest products and services being delivered by library and IT vendors.
