ABOUT THE CONFERENCE |
||
VALA thanks all participants in VALA2006 for making the Conference
so successful. The trade exhibition was sold out. We had seven plenary
sessions and forty-one concurrent sessions, and a capacity Conference Dinner.
A record 780 people registered
for the Conference and Exhibition, many came just to view the Exhibition,
and Crown Towers was abuzz. Thankyou to all the
Exhibitors, speakers, delegates, our Conference Organisers, and everyone
who helped to make the Conference so good.
The conference theme of "CONNECTING WITH USERS" was chosen as it reflects one of our key challenges in the field of library and information technology. The keynote speakers, drawn from India, Germany, UK and the USA, were chosen for their expertise and work with major projects of significant interest and their understanding of current key issues. Together with an impressive range of local and overseas speakers reporting on innovative projects and topics of current importance, they ensured that the conference provided a wide vision of emerging developments in libraries on both the local and world stage. VALA is the strategic conference for information professionals involved in technology in libraries and the information management sector. VALA2006 gave delegates live access to insights developed from within the industry, as well as affording them a unique opportunity to view the latest technology products and solutions being demonstrated in the state-of-the-art Trade Exhibition. Armed with the knowledge provided by attending the Conference and Exhibition, VALA delegates can make better, and more confident, technology decisions that will enhance the performance and efficiency of their information services in truly CONNECTING WITH USERS. The Conference Committee once again thanks all participants and looks forward to welcoming you to VALA2008. Sandra Vouch Conference Committee Chair |
