Abstract

Professional discourse amongst librarians has long emphasised the importance of user privacy, yet modern library systems have weak privacy protections and poor data security practices. This paper presents a conceptual model for a library circulation system, using the open source encryption software Mylar. The system would provide control over assets for libraries, whilst also allowing patrons to borrow anonymously and access private and secure enriched discovery services.

Abstract

Repositioning Brimbank Libraries for 21st century service delivery
Brimbank Libraries have been repositioned for 21st century services delivery through the implementation of technology, changes to work practices and redevelopment of library buildings, and each of these processes has contributed to the provision of contemporary services and programs. The key driver for the realignment of service delivery was, and is, the needs and aspirations of the community.
