The Chinese Lion Dance has been performed for over 1500 years and has spread throughout the world. Chinese New Year is an auspicious event in China and the Lions join the festivities to bless the coming of Spring. The Lions are accompanied with a loud percussion team – drums, cymbals and gong to create a energetic performance that symbolises ushering in a fresh start for a new year. Through the performance, the lion blesses the audience with good health, success and prosperity throughout the coming year.
