WELCOME FROM THE CITY OF MELBOURNE
The City of Melbourne welcomes all delegates taking part in the VALA – Libraries, Technology and the Future biennial conference. VALA takes a leading role in bringing together decision makers from libraries, galleries and museums and encourages collaboration for the benefit of the knowledge sector as a whole.
Participants have the opportunity to explore technology trends and share ideas over three days at the world-class Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Visitors from overseas and interstate will find our city welcoming and inclusive with a thriving cultural scene.
In 2017 Melbourne was again named the World’s Most Liveable City for a record consecutive seven years. We are also a UNESCO City of Literature. Melburnians consume more books, magazines and newspapers per capita than any other city in Australia and we have the highest concentration of book clubs in the country.
You are invited to explore our parks and gardens, heritage architecture, theatres and concert halls and enjoy our fine dining, bars and enchanting laneways while you’re in town.
As you gather with colleagues, the City of Melbourne wishes all involved in VALA2018 a most successful conference.
