Abstract
In December 2009, the Victorian Government Library Service (VGLS) was created by transferring library staff in all Victorian Government departments and four of their agencies to the Shared Service Provider, Department of Treasury and Finance. VGLS builds capability across the Victorian Government by providing reference services to all Government staff and value for money in publication purchasing. In October 2010 funding was secured to purchase a suite of systems with a range of integrated functionality way beyond the vision of any legacy services. With the system implementation and the unification of the service continuing, this paper provides an update to the library industry on this extraordinary transformation.
