Abstract
Open source software is a powerful facet of the technology industry – code that is free to use and share, community-driven projects, and global development. Aleisha Amohia is a Technical Lead at Catalyst IT, a software company based in Wellington, New Zealand, which specialises in open source software. She will share open source software values, which align closely with values from the Māori worldview, and how they may influence culture. These values will be described using her experiences working in open source library and collection management projects, such as Koha integrated library system.
Biography
Aleisha Amohia (Te Ātihaunui-a-Pāpārangi, Ngāti Maru, Ngāti Hāua, Cambodia, India) (she/her) is a Technical Lead and Software Developer for Rōpū Kohinga at Catalyst IT in Wellington, New Zealand. She has been working on Koha library system since 2014 and is familiar with other open source collections software such as VuFind and DSpace. Aleisha graduated in 2020 from Victoria University of Wellington with a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Management and Information Systems).
