Presentation
Abstract
The collaborative project between academic librarians and a digital support officer at James Cook University demonstrates the innovative use of gamification and emerging technologies to digitise an information literacy learning activity. Based on an in-class tutorial activity, the project team joined forces to elevate the concept to the digital realm, leveraging their combined skills and knowledge. The Virtual Referencing Escape Room provides engaging, interactive content to students participating in both internal and external learning. AI technology was employed to craft the 360-degree images, complemented by the incorporation of the existing puzzles and a gamer’s imaginative storyline. These elements were cleverly integrated into a three dimensional and interconnected space (using Skybox AI and Thinglink), culminating in an immersive experience.
