Abstract

Learning new things can be hard. What’s the first step, and the other steps after that? The open source Skill Trees project can help, making it easy to get started with a new hobby or skill. It includes a repository of pathway templates to levelling up your skills across a huge variety of areas, from Metalworking to Arduino, Cooking to Finance and beyond. This workshop is about the power of gamifying our learning, acknowledging our progress and getting inspired to go new places. Complete a guided skill tree and goal setting activity and learn how you can use skill trees to incentivise learning for work or personal use. Want to learn how to get started with Woodworking? Download the template and colour in the boxes of anything you’ve already done, and get inspired to try new things at your level. Born from a desire to help people do hard things, this project continues to grow and aims to create 60+ skill trees in different areas.
